We're getting married
Kareemat & Babatunde
Our Story
How it all began
Sunday, 28 January 2024 · The O2 Arena
Davido, and a crowd of 20,000
London was cold, but the O2 Arena was alive with heat, music, and anticipation. Davido was in town, and the crowd pulsed with excitement voices singing, lights flashing, joy spilling everywhere. Among thousands of faces, fate quietly set its plan in motion. Kareemat came for the music and the night. Tunde came for the same. Neither of them knew this concert would change the meaning of January forever.
Outside the O2, after the show
“You are my wife.”
As friends gathered outside, they met. It wasn't dramatic at first just a glance, then another. But something lingered, something familiar, as if their souls had met long before their bodies ever did. Tunde smiled, stepped closer, and without hesitation said the words that surprised everyone, including Kareemat: “You are my wife.” Laughter erupted from their friends, but Kareemat didn't laugh. She looked at him and replied with the same calm certainty: “I have met my husband.” To others, it sounded like a joke born from the excitement of the night. But deep down, they both knew this was recognition. They talked for barely ten minutes, yet it felt timeless not like strangers meeting, but like people reconnecting.
The London Underground
“How will I contact you?”
Soon, reality returned. As they prepared to part at the Underground, Tunde called out warmly: “My wife! How will I contact you?” Numbers were exchanged quickly, almost nervously. And then they parted. But they never really separated.
Every day since
From ten minutes to a lifetime
Not a single day passed without conversation. Messages became calls, calls became long nights of laughter, prayers, and shared dreams. Distance didn't weaken them it deepened them. What began as ten minutes at a concert grew into certainty, commitment, and love. What their friends thought was a joke became a testimony, because sometimes love doesn't need time to introduce itself. Sometimes it simply says: I have found you.
The day before Saturday, 27 January
But here's where it gets even more beautiful
Kareemat had been at a separate wedding in London that weekend. During the reception, the DJ called all the single ladies to the dance floor for the bouquet toss. She almost didn't go she hesitated, wasn't particularly interested, definitely wasn't strategizing for a catch. And yet, when the bouquet was thrown, it found its way into her hands as if it had chosen her. She didn't fight for it. She didn't chase it. Looking back now, she should have known that bouquet wasn't just flowers tossed into the air. It was a quiet foreshadowing, a symbolic whisper that something magical was already aligning. Less than 24 hours later, in a crowd of over 20,000 people, she found her Tunde.
“Some meetings are coincidences. Some are timing. And some feel like destiny unfolding exactly as it should. This was the latter.”
Counting down to Day One
“And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy.”
